Welcome to the New PFLAG Woodstock Website!

In our effort to support the LGBTQIA+ community, we’ve rebuilt our website from the ground up. Our old website was a bit clunky both for the end user and for us to maintain. As a result, it was often stale and out of date. The new one is much easier to keep up to date and, we hope, makes it much easier to find things. We hope you like it and if you have any feedback, let us know.
Events
Events are a big part of what we do. Whether it’s an event we are holding like our upcoming game day or an event we attend like the upcoming wellness fair, we are out doing something at least once a month and often more frequently.
You can find a list of all the upcoming events or see the list of past events (past events we’ve added since the website project was started).
Each event will show you the time and location as well as a description. Most of our events are free and open to the public but you can RSVP or ask a question using the RSVP form on the event page. For events with limited space or a fee, you can register from the event’s page.
We also have calendar integration. Each event has an “add to calendar” button that works with many different calendar services. You can also subscribe to our full event calendar from the front page and the upcoming events page. There are buttons for Apple and Google calendars or an ICS feed you can paste into most calendar applications. The calendar subscription will update whenever we post a new event. Your calendar app may take up to a day to show it.
Support Meetings
We hold monthly support meetings, typically on the first Sunday of the month from 2-4pm at First Bank in Woodstock. These are peer-to-peer support meetings. The next one is coming up in November. These are a safe space to talk about your concerns and share your successes. At a time when our community is under stress, having a place to talk, whether you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or a family member trying to support someone who is, can be a great way to deal with stress. You can learn more about how our meetings work here.
If you are not able to attend in person, RSVP for the meeting and we’ll send you the Zoom link.
News & Articles
The News & Articles page is an archive of all the articles we have posted. There isn’t much there now as we have just launched the site but as we learn of news that is relevant to the community or have information to share, you can find it there.
Resources
The Resources menu on the site has links to businesses and organizations that have told us they are LGBTQIA+ affirming. Neither PFLAG Woodstock nor PFLAG National can vouch for the accuracy of this info and it doesn’t constitute an endorsement of any business or organization but in a county where LGBTQIA+ people are often not made to feel welcome, we thought this would be a useful resource for the community. If you find a listing that is in error (either the information is incorrect or the organization no longer exists or is no longer affirming), let us know. We’ll do our best to keep it up to date but this largely depends on the community as a whole to keep it up to date. If you know of an organization that should be listed, please let us know or ask them to contact us. The contact page is the best way to do that.
We also have resources pages for legislators and policy makers, Safe Zone training and other resource pages.
Videos
We have a page of videos that come from various sources that can be helpful for those trying to understand their own identity or for those supporting a loved one who has shared their identity. They are not in any particular order, so browse through them to see whether any might be useful.
Newsletter
If you were subscribed to our mailing list, you should be receiving this in your inbox. Going forward, when we make a new post or event (typically only a few times a month), you will receive the newsletter containing all the new content for that day. You should find links to manage your subscription at the bottom of the newsletter.
If you are reading this on the website and not part of our email list, you can subscribe here. If you are on our mailing list and not seeing our emails, check your spam folder. Some email systems get overly aggressive.
Helping PFLAG Support the Community
For everyone at PFLAG Woodstock, our mission of trying to make a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community is a labor of love and passion. We are an organization of volunteers, but we live in a world where doing events and IT infrastructure costs money. We do this as frugally as we can. We know we are living in a time of rising costs and the strain it puts on everyone. Putting food on the table and keeping fuel in the vehicle is more expensive than ever. If you have the means to support the organization financially, either through becoming a member or making a donation, we hope you will consider it. But, if you can’t, we don’t want that to stop you from participating in our events. Come and join us at our social events or at a support meeting. If you can volunteer to help out at any of our events, that kind of support is always needed and appreciated!
Privacy and Spam
You can see our privacy policy. We take privacy seriously and we won’t sell or give away your contact information. The only exception is that membership in PFLAG Woodstock comes with membership to the national PFLAG organization. We send National your information as well as a portion of your membership dues so you can keep up to date with their educational and advocacy work.
The only action that adds you to our email newsletter is subscribing. Contacting us through any other way (contact page, RSVP’ing or registering for an event) does not add you to our list so you needn’t worry that contacting us will spam your inbox. We only want to send information about what’s going on here to those that have explicitly asked for it and while we hope that is everyone reading this, we recognize that not everyone wants that. You can rest assured that contacting us won’t force you into a long-term relationship you didn’t want.
Looking Ahead
We have about two and a half months left in 2026. It’s been a busy year for PFLAG Woodstock and a stressful year for many in our community, especially our transgender and nonbinary siblings. We’re hoping this new website will help all of us make a more vibrant LGBTQIA+ community in Shenandoah County!
