THE BARD QUEER LEADERSHIP PROJECT
Who We’re Looking For
We know our students come to education in their own way, in their own time. That’s why there are three ways to become a founding member of the BQLP:
High school seniors: apply directly into BQLP as first-year students.
Transfer students: apply directly into BQLP as a second- or third-year student. Students from Bard College at Simon’s Rock: The Early College may also transfer to the BQLP.
Non-traditional students: BQLP welcomes applications from students taking non-traditional paths in their education.
We’re looking for independent-minded, barrier-breaking students like you. Become a founding member of the first ever cohort of the Bard Queer Leadership Project, beginning fall 2023. Learn more today and connect with a Simon’s Rock student to learn about the campus and community. If you're ready for the challenge, apply now.
Dear PFLAG,
Hello! My name is Becky Kaska, Chair of the Casa BruMar Foundation Rise Up Scholarship Committee.
I wanted to share a scholarship opportunity open to Virginia residents with you. The Rise Up Scholarship is open to applicants under 25 years of age, attending a 4-year college or university (including graduate students), who advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. See the attached flyer or our Rise Up website for more information.
Applications will be open from January 15 to April 15 every year. For the 2024 award year, we raised enough to provide our main recipient with $1,000 per year toward tuition, room and board, or books and supplies for 4 years of continued enrollment, as well as smaller, one-time awards to multiple recipients.
We hope to expand our impact through increased fundraising in the coming years. If you know of an organization that would like to partner with us for fundraising, please share our contact information (riseupbycbf@gmail.com). Thank you! (Donation Page)
Casa BruMar Foundation (CBF) is a Northern Virginia-based registered 501(c)3 non-profit (EIN: 84-2524188). CBF aims to bridge the gap that leaves the LGBTQ+ community behind when it comes to equality in education, social services, and human dignity in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in Prince William County. Visit the Casa BruMar Foundation website, email secretary@casabrumarfoundation.org or subscribe to the CBF newsletter for more information about services provided to the community.
This is our first year opening the scholarship to residents Virginia-wide. Please help spread the word about this opportunity with your local students. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Becky Kaska
